Granite Works - Did a very poor job installing granite countertops

Not resolved

Installers were late by as much as 12 hours.

A 5 hour job took 3 weeks with unsatisfactory results.

Home owners personal property unprotected and damaged.

Seams are very noticable and unfinished.

Granite Works refuses to finish job.

Lien was placed on home without any discussion with owners.

Buyer beware!!!!

Make sure as a consumer you have a detailed work order and check to see if the business you are hiring is licensed and a

member in good standing with Better Business Bureau.

There is a very low granite seam industry standard in place, granite installers do not have to create a good seam. Installers can do poor seam work and still meet industry standards and get away with it.

Review about: Granite Countertop Installation.

I agree. We had our house built through Reid Built Homes, who contract to Granite Worx.

I went to Granite Worx, chose my granite, filled out the paperwork, took my sample of granite to the tile store to compare it to the backsplash that I had chosen and realized that it didn't match. Within the week I returned to Granite Worx to change my choice, filled out a change order form and was on my way. A few months later, when it is time for them to install the granite, our builder asks us to do a batch viewing of our granite. So, my husband and I go to Granite Worx, tell the salesperson that we were sent to do a batch view.

He asks us what granite we chose, we tell him, he tells us that he will just take us to see the one that we said rather than double checking our order because he is too hungover from wing night at an irish pub the night before! That should have set off red flags for us right there, but we had never done this before. So he shows us the choice that I had said, we agree that that is the correct one and we are on our way. Approximately six months from when we ordered our granite, our possession date finally comes; we are so excited to see it and I walk in to see the WRONG GRANITE installed throughout our house.

Apparently when I completed the change order, someone at Granite Worx didn't follow through with the paper work. In addition to this, if the salesman wasn't hungover and had looked up our order, we could have caught the mistake....

I was never given paperwork when I completed the change order, but I had no way of proving this. This was our first experience with a builder, so it didn't dawn on us that a $10,000 mistake could be made at our expense.

In the future, I know to ask for paperwork for EVERYTHING, not to deal with ReidBuilt Homes Calgary, not to deal with GraniteWorx and source out contractors that you feel comfortable with....Avoid the greasy salesmen that tell you how hungover they are;)
